Inthepresentwork,aseriesofPBIcopolymers(m-PBI-co-p-PBI)consistingofm-andp-phenylenelinkagehavebeenproducedbymixing3,3’-diaminobenzidinetetrahydrochloride(DAB)withisophthalicacid(IPA)andterephthalicacid(TPA)inpolyphosphoricacid(PPA).Theeffectsofp-PBIontheintrinsicviscosityandpropertiesofm-PBIhavebeeninvestigated.TheproductswerecharacterizedbyFT-IR,1H-NMR,TGA.Theresultsshowedthatp-PBIhaveaneffectonthepropertiesofm-PBI.
