Poly(styrene-tr(ethylene-co-butylene)-/rstyrene)(SEBS)isakindofthermalplasticelastomer,andiswidelyusedasmaterialsinautomobile,biomedicaldevice,package,electricalequipmentfield,etc.However,thelimitedmechanicalandelectricalpropertiesofSEBScouldnotberestrictedincertainfield.Duetothemonolayerofperfectlytwodimensionallatticeofpuresp2-bondedcarbonatoms,grapheneshowsmanyextraordinaryproperties,suchaselectrical,optical,thermal,mechanicalpropertiescl].Ithasbeenwidelyusedasananofillerinthepreparationofpolymernanocompositestoenhancethemechanicalproperties,electricalproperties,gasblockingproperties,thermalpropertiesofthepolymermatrix[2].However,pristinegrapheneisnotcompatiblewithorganicpolymersanddoesnotformhomogeneouscomposites.Inaddition,thevanderWaalsforcebetweentheinterlayersleadtoreunionofgraphene,causingagreatreductionofitsperformancec3].Inthiswork,graphenemodifiedwithoctadecylamineasananofillermixedwithSEBSgraftedwithmaleicanhydride(SEBS-g-MAH)wasasolutiontoenhancetheelectricalandmechanicalpropertiesofSEBS-g-MAH.Thesurfacemodificationwithoctadecylamineforgraphenecouldeffectivelyavoidtheaggregationofgraphenemonolayer.Inaddition,themodifiedgraphenecoulddispersewellintheSEBS-g-MAHmatrix.ThereasonforadoptingSEBS-g-MAHasmatrixisthatinterfacialinteractioncouldoccurbetweengrapheneandSEBS-g-MAHwithdifferentpolargroups.Furthermore,thearomaticringsinSEBS-g-MAHandgraphenemayform7c~7cstackinginteractions,whichisfavortodispersegraphenewellinSEBS-g-MAHmatrix.ComparedwithFTIRresultforSEBS-g-MAH,anewpeakforSEBS-g-MAH/graphenenanocompositesappearedat1710cm-lcorrespondingtoesterbondvibrationadsorption.Moreover,thepeakdensityat1790cm-ldecreased,indicatingthatthecontentofmaleicanhydrideinSEBS-g-MAHdecreased.ItshowedthatesterificationreactiontookplacebetweenmaleicanhydridegroupofSEBS-g-MAHandtheresidualhydroxylofgraphene,whichenhancedinterfacialbindingofthem.AccordingtoTEMpicture,itwasseenthatgraphenecoulddisperseuniformlyinSEBS-g-MAHmatrix.Themechanicalpropertieswereenhancedby169%,rangingfroml.94t03.28MPa.Thealternatingcurrent(AC)conductivityatIHzofnanocompositesincreasedfrom2.5E-16t01.2E-IIS/cm,comparedwithSEBS-g-MAH.TheaboveresultswereattributedtothewelldispersionofgrapheneinSEBS-g-MAHmatrixandinterfacialinteractionbetweengrapheneandSEBS-g-MAH.
