Theshapememorymodelofthermoresponsivemesogen-jacketedliquidcrystallinepolymer(MJLCP)fiber:poly-{2,5-bis[(4-butoxyphenyl)oxycarbonyl]styrenes}(PBPCS)fiberdesignedinthemolecularlevelhasbeenproposedinthisarticle.Becauseofthestrong“couplingeffect”betweenflexiblebackboneandrigidsidemesogens,thewholeelectroncloudaroundmacromolecularchaincanbesharedeachotheranditmakesbackboneandsidemesogensconjugated.Therefore,themolecularstructureofPBPCScanberegardedas“dualchains”modelthatisconstitutedbyaflexiblebackbonechainandarigidsidechaininparallel.Furthermore,thethermoresponsiveshapememorybehaviorofPBPCSfiberisdiscussedbyaviscoelasticmolecularmodelconsistingoftwoMaxwellmodelsinparallel,thetheoreticalvaluesagreewithexperimentsverywell.
