Inordertoinvestigatethemicrostructureofnaturalsilkwormsilksandregeneratedsilkfibroin(RSF)fibers,synchrotronradiationX-raymicrodiffractiontechnologywasappliedduetolimitedsampleamount.TheRSFfiberswerefirstlydry-spunfromRSFaqueoussolutionandthenpost-treatedatdifferentconditions.Theas-spunRSFfiberexhibitedstrongdiffractionof[201]latticeplaneandweakdiffractionof[020]/[200]latticeplanes,whilethepost-treatedRSFfibersshowedweakdiffractionof[201]latticeplaneandstrongdiffractionof[020]/[200]latticeplanes.However,thenaturalsilkpresentedtwomainpeaksof[201]and[020]/[200]latticeplanes.BothdiffractionswereattributedtosilkIIstructureofsilkfibroin.Bydeconvolutingtheone-dimensionalwide-angleX-raymicrodiffractionpattern,thecrystallinityandthedegreeofcrystallineorientationwereobtained.Theas-spunfibershowedlowdegreesofcrystallinityandcrystallineorientation,butthemicrostructureoftheRSFfibercouldbeimprovedgreatlyandevenbecomesimilartothatofthedegummednaturalsilkbypost-treatment.Theeffectsofpost-treatmentmethodonthemicrostructuresoftheRSFfiberswerealsostudiedtoobtainoptimalpost-treatmentconditions.
