Theeffectofmagneticfieldsontheemissionandcurrentinorganiclightemittingdiodes(OLEDs)withnonmagneticelectrodeshasbeenobservedin20031.Sincethen,manygroupshavefocusedtheirinterestintothisfieldandfoundtheeffectofthemagneticfieldwasageneralphenomenonandcouldbeobservedinarangeofboththesmallmoleculeandthepolymersystems2-15.Despitethelargeinterestintheeffect,itsunderlyingmechanismisstillhotlydebated.
