Elastomersareoftenusedforsealapplicationsduetotheirspecialmaterialpropertiesandeasyuse[1].Nearlyeverytechnicalgoodincorporatesatleastsomeelastomericseals.Theapplicationareareachesfromsimplesealsthatpreventtheintrusionofdustintoamachinehousingtoimprovethelifetimeandperformanceofamachinetoratherimportantsealsthatensurethesafeencapsulationofdangerousgoodswithinacontainerorsystem.Inmanyapplicationsalsolowtemperaturesmayoccurduringoperation.Thereforeitisimportanttoknowthematerialbehaviouratlowtemperaturestodeterminethetemperaturerangethatallowsasafeoperationoftheseal.
