Nowadays,naturalfibersareappliedtoreinforcementofabiodegradableorbiomass-basedresintoenhancethemechanicalpropertiescl].ThispaperdealswithinvestigationofboththeinterlaminarstrengthpropertiesandtensilestrengthpropertiesofagreencompositelaminatereinforcedwithramiefabricsthroughZ-anchorprocessc2].AndalsoasimulationmodelisbuilttomakeafurtherillustrationoftheZ-anchoreffectworkingbetweenfabriclayers.InterlaminarstrengthoftwopiledramiefabricsisreinforcedbyZ-anchorprocess,andthegreencompositesreinforcedbytwobondedfabricswerefabricatedthroughhotpressmoldingunderahightemperature.InterlaminaradhesivestrengthbetweenfabriclayerswasmeasuredbyT-Peeltest.TensilestrengthofthecompositeprocessedbyneedlepunchmachinewasalsocarriedouttoinvestigatethedifferencesbetweenneedlepunchdensitiesafterZ-anchorprocess.Atlast,thefracturesurfaceofthecompositeisobservedthroughmicroscopetofurtherconfirmiftheZ-anchoreffectactsonenhancinginterlaminarstrengthbetweenfabriclayers.T-peeltestresultsdemonstratedthattheinterlaminarstrengthofbothramiefabricsanditscompositeincreasedwithincreasingoftheneedlepunchdensity.Fromtheresultsofbothexperimentandobservation,wecouldconfirmthattheeffectofZ-anchorcouldenhancetheinterlaminarstrengthbetweenfabriclayers.FromthesimulationwecanunderstandmoredeeplyhowZ-anchoreffectplaysaroleinfabriclayers.Andthetensiletestresultshowedthatthemechanicalpropertiesdecreasedwithincreasingtheneedlepunchdensity,butasignificantdeclinewasnotobtainedthroughthetensiletest.
