Polymericmaterialsarewidelyusedindifferenthouseholdappliances,packaging,automotives,engineeringapplications,aerospace,interiordecoration,etc.Duetotheirhighflammability,inmanyoftheseapplicationsthereexistssevereriskoffirerelatedcausalitiesandlossofvaluableproperties.Therefore,itisoftenneededtomaketheseproductsmorefireretardantbyusingsuitablefireretardantsintheoriginalmaterials.Inlastdecades,ithadbeenrecognizedthattheformationofnanocompositescanimprovethefireretardantperformanceatrelativelylowfillerloadingscl-3].Inthistalk,therecentdevelopmentoffireretardantpolymernanocompositeshasbeendiscussed.Severalfunctionalnanofillers,suchaslayereddoublehydroxides(LDHs),carbonnanotube(CNT),nanoclay,a-Zirconiumphosphate(ZrP),polymerbasednanocompositesareinvestigatedontheburningbehaviors.Differentpolymericmaterials,suchasPP,PLA,Epoxy,arechosenaspolymermatrixinthistalk.Itisnotedthattheintroductionoffunctionalnanofillermaysignificantlyimprovethefireretardancyofpolymericmaterials,showinglowheatreleaserate,lowtotalheatreleaserate,highlimitingoxygenindexandhighleveloftheverticalburningtest.However,thedifferentnanofillershavevariedefficiencyontheimprovementoffireretardancy.Furthermore,theproductionofsmokereleasecanbeinfluencedgreatlybyintroducingfunctionalnanofillers;TheproductionofCOandC02duringthecombustionalsoareaffected.Inthesesystems,itincludesbothsynergismandnegativesynergism,dependingonthevarietyofthefireretardantsystemandnanofillers.Finally,therelevantfireretardantmechanismsarealsodiscussedduringthepresentation. |
