Inthisstudy,laserengravingwasappliedoncottonfabricinordertoevaluatetheeffectonsurfacepropertiesofcottonfabricintermofchangeoffabricshade.Denimfabricwasusedasakindofcottonfabricinthisstudy.Twolaserprocessparameters,i.e.pixeltimeandresolution,werestudied.Thelaserpowerdensityincreasedinresponsetotheincreaseinthelevelofpixeltimeandresolution.Afterlaserengraving,animprovementincrockingfastnessgradingofthedenimfabricswasnotedbecausethelaserengravingprocesscouldeffectivelyremovethesurfacecolourandunfixeddyefromthefabricsurface.Undertheeffectofhighlaserpowerdensity,apalersurfaceappearancewasnotedinthedenimfabricsandtheK/Ssumvaluesindicatedthattheamountofdyeondenimfabricwasdecreased.
