Liquidcrystals(LCs)isatypicalsupramolecularmaterials,itcannotonlyformorganizedstructures,butalsoexhibitgoodresponsewithexternalenvironments.ThespecialpropertiesofLCsresultinbroadapplicationinelectro-opticdisplay.Recently,theelectro-opticfeatureofsimpleorganicLCshasnotmettherequirementwithfurtherstudy.Inpresent,designandsynthesismultifunctionalinorganic/organichybridLCs(suchasluminescent,photochromicandmagneticLCs)arethemewtrendinfundamentalstudy.Atypicalcaseisinorganic/organichybridLCscontainingfunctionalinorganicnano-materials.ThehybridLCsisanovelfunctionalmaterialwhichcombinestheorganizationandresponsibilityofLCswiththeuniqueoptics,electricsandmagnetismofinorganiccomponents.Polyoxometalatesisakindofnano-sizedinorganicclusterwithremarkablechemical,structuralandelectronicversatility.Wehacepreparedinorganic/organiccomplexcontainingpolyoxometalatesbyreasonabledesignmesomorphicquaternaryammomiumsalt,thematerialsexhibitstypicalthermotropicliquidcrystallinebehaviors. |
