Aseriesofnovelmesogen-jacketedliquidcrystalline(LC)graftcopolymers(PPP-g-PMPCS),havebeendesignedandsuccessfullysynthesizedbyaYamamotocouplingreactionandsubsequentatomtransferradicalpolymerization(ATRP).TheLCbehaviorhasbeenexaminedbyPLM,1DWAXD,and2DWAXD.TheresultsshowthatallthesegraftcopolymersshowobviousLCbehaviors,andtheLCtemperatureisabout20℃lowerthanlinearPMPCS.Themain-chainPPP,side-chainPMPCSandwell-definedarchitecturehavecooperativeeffectonLCphasebehavior.2DWAXDanalysishasrevealedthatthesegraftcopolymersallexhibitahexaticcolumnarnematic(ФHN)phase. |
