Poly(1,8-diaminocarbazole)(PDACz)filmsonthePtelectrodeswereobtainedfromacetonitrile(0.1MLiClO4)andacidicaqueoussolutions(0.1MHClO4).ThechangesintheshapeofpolymerizationcurvesinthetwomediaarediscussedintermsofalimitedconductivitywindowofthefullyoxidizedPDACz.ThepolymerstructureofthefilmsobtainedfromacetonitrileandacidicaqueoussolutionwasproposedonthebaseofFTIRspectraandtheresultsoftheoreticalcalculations.Densityfunctionaltheory(DFT)wasusedtocalculateadistributionofunpaired-electronspindensityformonomerradicalcationstopredictthecouplingpositionsduringpolymerization.Thismethodallowedtoresolvetheproblemsconcerningthemonomerlinkage,stillpresentafteranalysisofFTIRspectraofthepolymer.
