Compositefilmsweresuccessfullypreparedfromacolloidalsuspensionofnanocrystallcelluloseasareinforcingphasetoreiforcechitosanmatrixusingsolutioncasting.Thenanocrystalcellulose,preparedbyacidhydrolysisofcottonlinter,consistedofirregularball-likeparticles.Thestructure,morphology,andpropertiesofthefilmswereinvestigatedbyTEM,SEM,XRD,FT-IR,UV-Vis,DMA,TGandtensiletesting.Theresultsindicatedthat,withanincreaseofnanocrystalcellulosecontentfrom0to20wt%,thefilmsexhibitedgoodmiscibilityandthetensilestrengthincreasedfrom95MPato117MPa.However,themechanicalpropertiesandopticaltransmittanceofchitosanfilmwiththefillercontentof30wt%decreasedgreatlybecauseoftheobviouslyphaseseparation.Meanwhile,thefilmsdisplayedexcellentthermalstabilityandwaterresistance.Duetothestronginteractionbetweenfillerandthechitosanmatrix,theincorporationofthefillerplaysanimportantroleontheenhancementofphysicalpropertiesofthefilms. |
