SiBN ceramic fibers with excellent mechanical and thermal stability can be obtained by N-methylpolyborosilazane as the polymer precursor. In this paper, N-methylpolyborosilazane was prepared at 150℃ under different time conditions and examined the melt spinnability by a hand drawing method. The as-obtained polymer precursors were characterized by FTIR, NMR, intrinsic viscosity and TGA, and the morphology of fiber was observed by SEM. The results showed that the polymer precursors obtained at different time had nearly the same structure, which was a large network structure consisted of flexible linear structure responsible for the good melt spinnability and rigid ring, and their intrinsic viscosity increased with the increase of the molecular weight excepting the presence of a large degree of crosslinking in the polymer. The polymer precursor obtained at 60h displayed a good melt spinnability and revealed a ceramic yield of 60% up to 900℃ in nitrogen atmosphere. |
