The effect of pressure-induced flow (PIF) process parameters, such as temperature, pressure, dwell time and clamping time, on the impact strength of ABS resin was studied in the paper. The results showed impact strength of ABS after PIF process increased by approximately 2 times. Dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) was used to characterize the glass transition temperature (Tg) and storage modulus. And, storage modulus of ABS after PIF process increased to a great extent, but there was little change in Tg. SEM observations showed layer structure formed in the ABS through PIF process, which contributed a lot to the improvement of impact strength for ABS. |
