The die-swell ratio for meta-aramid (PMIA) solutions was measured by gravimetric method. The effects of extrusion conditions on die-swell behavior of the PMIA solutions were studied with respect to the temperature of solutions, the extrusion pressure and the length/diameter ratio (L/D) of the die. The results showed that die-swell ratio (B) of PMIA solutions increased with rising of extrusion pressure from 0.2MPa and 0.6MPa, while it decreased with the rising of temperature from 40℃ to 60℃. When pressure and temperature were constant, die-swell ratio would decline with the L/D ratio increasing from 1 to 9. |
