XIM Introduces New Primer Formulations
XIM Products Inc. (Westlake, Ohio) announced upgrades to three primer products, including high-build and bonding primers.
The company said it has reformulated the high-build Peel Bond® primer by incorporating a thixotropic film-forming resin, providing 30% higher build and filling capabilities.
The product, initially introduced six years ago, is reported to offer the properties of a bonding primer that also fills and levels various surfaces, including wood, stucco, masonry, and galvanized steel.
The company also announced a water-based version of its fast-drying UMA solvent-based primer, based on the company’s Flash Bond® nanotechnology. The formulation is reported to contain a blend of adhesive polymers for mechanical and chemical adhesion; surface penetrants to boost penetration and adhesion; surface wetting agents to facilitate surface contact and enhance the penetration and adhesion processes; and polymeric film hardeners to provide film hardness comparable to an alkyd-based coating.
Also introduced was the Restorz™ II clear, water-based primer/sealer for interior walls and surfaces, also based on the Flash Bond technology. The low-VOC, high-build product is effective for porous surfaces, offers a lemon fragrance, and seals a variety of existing surfaces including drywall, drywall cement, and old paste and adhesive, the company says.
