Fletcher Named ASTM D01 Chairman
John Fletcher, technical support manager at Elcometer Ltd. in Manchester, England, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials and Applications.
In addition to his work as chair of the main committee, Fletcher also leads Subcommittee D01.23 on Physical Properties of Applied Paint Film. He has been a member of ASTM International since 2007.
Committee D01 includes more than 600 members who oversee 630 ASTM standards that cover components of paint and related coating materials, on-site applied paint and coatings, factory-applied paint and coatings, and paint application.
Fletcher began his career in 1969 as a development group leader at Mullard Hazel Grove Ltd. in Manchester. He joined Elcometer Ltd., then called Elcometer Instruments Ltd., in 1982. He became technical support manager in 1998.
Fletcher also is a member of SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, and is a fellow of the Institute of Corrosion. He holds a higher national certificate (HNC) degree in electronics from Stockport Technical College and a professional diploma/certificate in management from Manchester Polytechnic, both in Manchester.
