Research/Career Interests
Professor Wei Yu is the deputy director of Advanced Thermal Functional Materials Engineering Technology Research Centre of Shanghai Polytechnic University. His current research covers thermal properties of low-dimensional materials, thermal management, and energy utilization. He has undertaken a number of national, provincial, and ministerial level projects, including four National Natural Science Foundation of China (one National Youth Fund, two General Programs, one Major Project Sub-Project Fund). He was awarded the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's Research Innovation Key Fund. He has been a significant leader in the Shanghai Education Development Foundation-Morning Glory Program, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's Industry-University Research Program, the Shanghai University Selection and Training of Outstanding Young Teachers Research Fund, and the Alliance Program.
Professor Yu has accumulated a wealth of experience in the research of thermal functional materials. He received the highest grade of "Excellent+" in the National Natural Science Foundation of China project (Design of Highly Thermally Conductive Graphene-based Thermal Interface Materials and Study of Heat Transfer Mechanisms, NSFC No. 51106093, 2014). He also participated in a major project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Basic Research on Energy Transmission and Conversion in Solar Energy Utilization, NSFC No. 51590901) and obtained the highest level of finalization evaluation. According to Web of Science, he has published 50+ papers in domestic and international professional journals, including 60+ SCI-indexed papers, 10+ EI-indexed papers, H-index of 30, a total citation >4000 times, and 15 articles with citations >100 times. His research papers have been published in famous international journals (Applied Energy, Energy, Applied Physics Letters, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, International Journal of Thermal Science, Applied Thermal Engineering). He is also a reviewer for famous international journals (Nanotechnology,International Journal of Thermal Sciences et al.)
He was invited to be the session chair of the 15th International Heat Transfer Conference (Tokyo, Japan, 2014) and gave an oral presentation. He was invited to give keynote speeches at the China International Graphene Innovation Conference (2014 & 2016). In addition, he was invited to give a keynote presentation at the Academic Conference on Heat Transfer and Mass Transfer of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermo-physics and the Communication Conference on the Progress of Projects in the Field of Heat Transfer and Mass Transfer of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (2013, 2016& 2020). He organized the 4th International Symposium on Micro and Nano Technology (2019). As vice-president, he organized the 2nd Chinese Thermal Properties Conference (2021).
