Professor Aravind from the national graphene research institute of the university of Manchester visited our school
At the invitation of professor Yu Wei from the department of engineering, Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan from the national graphene research institute of the university of Manchester came to our school for a visit and exchange on March 12th. In 2004, two physicists at the university of Manchester in the United Kingdom won the 2010 Nobel Prize in physics for separating graphene from graphite. In 2013, the British government jointly funded with the European research institute and the development foundation to build the graphene research institute with the world''''s leading technology. The graphene institute boasts the most advanced equipment and powerful faculty, among which more than 80% of the research quality from the international graphene research institute is internationally outstanding or world-leading. Dr. Aravind''''s visit is mainly to discuss the progress of the graphene research institute jointly established with our university. Some teachers and graduate students from the engineering department participated in the meeting.
First of all, Mr. Yu Wei introduced the recent project progress of the research group and the progress of the joint construction of the graphene research institute. Dr. Aravind introduced the research progress of graphene modification and graphene-based composites. This meeting laid a solid foundation for the further cooperation between the research institute of graphene and international projects. Dr. Aravind said that teachers and students of our university are welcome to study in the university of Manchester and provide constructive Suggestions for postgraduate students to pursue their doctoral degrees.
