Professor Peter J. Stang from the University of Utah visited our school for academic exchange
On September 20-21, 2018, Professor Peter J. Stang, an eminent lecture professor from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah, visited our school for academic exchange and visit, upon the invitation of Professor Tian Wei from our university. Professor Stang is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a foreign member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
On the morning of the 21st, Professor Stang delivered an academic lecture titled "Abiological Self-Assembly: Predesigned Metallacycles and Metallacages via Coordination" in the Academic Lecture Hall of the College of Science. Professor Yufeng Nie, the Vice Dean of the College of Science, attended the lecture and introduced Professor Stang''s research achievements. Over 100 faculty members and students from the College of Science, the College of Life Sciences, and the College of Materials Science attended the lecture. Professor Stang shared his research accomplishments in the field of supramolecular chemistry, particularly in the construction of discrete metal macrocycles and metal cages with designed topology through directed self-assembly. His talk aroused wide interest among the audience, and everyone actively engaged in discussions and exchanges with him.
After the lecture, Professor Stang, accompanied by Professor Tian Wei, visited the College of Science and the Key Laboratory of Polymer Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province. The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to engage in fruitful discussions regarding collaborative graduate training, research cooperation, and other areas of mutual interest.
