Kaiqiang Liu was born in Inner Mongolia, China. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in 2001 and Ph. D. degree in 2007 at Shaanxi Normal University, working with Professor Dr. Yu Fang on functional molecular gels. From 2009 to 2012, he was a postdoctoral researcher in physical chemistry at Shaanxi Normal University. From 2012 to 2013, he was a visiting professor in Supramolecular Chemistry Group at Durham University, working with Professor Jonathan W. Steed on multi-component molecular gels. In 2008, he was appointed as a lecturer at Shaanxi Normal University. From 2010 to 2017, he was an associate professor of Chemistry, and he is currently a professor of Chemistry at Shaanxi Normal University. His interests are in functional molecular gels, reversible covalent bonding materials, rheology of soft materials and organic or inorganic crystallization in gel media, etc. Since 2001, he has authored or co-authored published more than 60 research papers and is named in 10 patents. He has been recognized by the editors as an Outstanding Reviewer for Soft Matter in 2016 and 2017. He is one of recipients of the first Awards for functional soft materials from Natural Science Foundation of Shaanxi Province.
