(1) Synthesis of functional porous carbon materials from diverse resources, including polymer, waste polymer (e.g., PP, PE, PS, PET, PVC), poly(ionic liquid), metal-organic framework (MOF), covalent-organic frameworks (COF), hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOF), and polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM).
(2) Applications of these carbon materials in supercapacitors, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), photo-catalytic degradation, adsorption/seperation, solar steam generation, electrochemical detection, sensor, and electric power generation.
(3) Synthesis of polymer-inorganic nanofiller hybrids (e.g., MOF, COF, HOF, and carbon materials) and their applications in the separation.
(4) Synthesis of porous polymer membranes for ultrasensitive actuators/sensors, smart machines, and chiral separation.
