220. 3D porous hybrids of defect-rich MoS2/graphene nanosheets with excellent electrochemical performance as anode materials for lithium ion batteries.
In recent years, the global energy crisis and environmental concerns have put forward an ever-growing demand for efficient energy storage, which has accelerated the development of lithium ion batteries with higher power density and longer cycle life. Herein, we demonstrate a facile and scalable process to prepare three-dimensional (3D) porous hybrids comprised of ultrathin defect-rich MoS2 nanoshe...

Nanoscale, 6, 13421-13424: The unexpected flexibility of natural cellulose at a single-chain level and its implications to the design of nano materials
At crystal or larger scales, natural cellulose was generally recognized to be a rigid material. Our single-chain mechanical measurements, however, reveal that the natural cellulose is as flexible as common synthetic polymers at the single-chain level, creating new opportunities in the designing of nano materials.

[Scientific Reports] Hierarchically Porous Silicon-Carbon-Nitrogen Hybrid Materials towards Highly Efficient and Selective Adsorption of Organic Dyes
The hierarchicallymacro/micro-porous silicon–carbon–nitrogen (Si–C–N) hybrid material was presented with novel functionalities of totally selective and highly efficient adsorption for organic dyes. The hybrid material was conveniently generated by the pyrolysis of commercial polysilazane precursors using polydivinylbenzene microspheres as sacrificial templates. Owing to the Van ...

[JMCA] Controlled Functionalization of Carbon Nanotubes as Superhydrophobic Materials for Adjustable Oil/Water Separation
A
robust strategy for fabricating superhydrophobic carbon nanotubes (CNTs) based hybrid materials as separation membrane through the covalent attaching fluorine-bearing organosilane of 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane
(PFDTS) onto -OH funcitonalzied CNTs is proposed. This resulted PFDTS/CNTs
superhydrophobic materials with controlled functionalzaition could be used to effectively separ...

[Materials Research Express] Electric Field Induced Structural Color of Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@C nanoparticles and their dielectric spectroscopy
The photonic properties of Fe3O4@C and Fe3O4 colloidal suspensions in an
external electric field have been investigated. Compared to Fe3O4, the Fe3O4@C
colloidal suspension has been found to have a wider tunability range of the
optical spectrum and a stronger electric response in low electric fields. Based on
the dielectric spectroscopy analysis of Fe3O4@C and Fe3O4 colloidal suspensions,
a dielec...

212. Anisotropic conductive films based on highly aligned polyimide fibers containing hybrid materials of graphene nanoribbons and carbon nanotubes.
Anisotropic electrically conductive films (PI–GNR/CNT) consisting of highly aligned polyimide (PI) composite fibers with graphene nanoribbon (GNR) and carbon nanotube (CNT) (GNR/CNT) hybrids as nanofillers have been prepared by electrospinning. The GNR/CNT hybrids used here were prepared by one-step partial unzipping of multi-walled CNTs, in which, with the residual CNTs bonded on the randomly ar...

211. Graphene/carbon aerogels derived from graphene crosslinked polyimide as electrode materials for supercapacitors.
Carbon aerogels with hierarchical porous structures are highly promising for developing novel electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their substantial active sites for ion and electron transfer. Herein, a new type of graphene/carbon aerogels with multimodal pores have been facilely synthesized via carbonization of graphene crosslinked polyimide aerogels. Compared to most carbon aerogels ba...

Synthesis and energy band characterization of hybrid molecular materials based on organic–polyoxometalate charge-transfer salts
A cationic amphiphilic molecule was synthesized and employed
to encapsulate Lindqvist ([M6O19]2?)
and Keggin polyoxometalates
([SiM12O40]4?, M=Mo, W) to
form hybrid molecules through electrostatic interaction. The X-ray diffraction
results illustrate that the former hybrids possess lamellar nanostructures in
their solid states, while the ...

[Materials Horizons] Integrating thermoresponsive copolymer with host-guest interactions for fabricating molecular recognition surfaces
A platform capable of integrating variable molecular
recognition moieties, tunable function and regenerable/reusable ability has
been developed to build bio-functional surfaces. More specifically, mannose and
biotin-modified β-CD were incorporated into
poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-1-adamantan-1-ylmethyl acrylate)
[poly(NIPAAm-co-Ada)] surfaces by host-guest interaction to investigate their

139. Supertough Polylactide Materials Prepared through In Situ Reactive Blending with PEG-Based Diacrylate Monomer
Supertough biocompatible and biodegradable polylactide materials were
fabricated by applying a novel and facile method involving reactive
blending of polylactide (PLA) and poly(ethylene glycol) diacylate
(PEGDA) monomer with no addition of exogenous radical initiators. Torque
analysis and FT-IR spectra confirm that cross-linking reaction of
acylate groups occurs in the melt blending process a...
