Polymeric drug delivery systems have numerous advantages compared with conventional dosage forms, such as improved therapeutic effect, reduced toxicity, convenience, and so on. PHAs are thought to be a sort of good natural biodegraded polymer used for drug delivery systems. Electrospun was an efficacious way of preparing nano- or micro- fibers. It was reported that drugs can be capsulated directly into electrospun fibers and these systems showed nearly zero-order kinetics of drug release. The use of drug delivery systems in electrospun fibers will be expected in biomedical applications and tissue engineering in the near future. [1-5]
In this paper, the influences of solvent, medical drugs and electrospun parameter like voltage, distance, etc. on the diameter size and uniformity of electrospun PHBV and PHB fibers were examined by changing the solvent, adding medicine rifampin and shifting the electrospun parameter in the electrospun process. SEM, TGA, DSC, drug release and other experiments were done to evaluate the properties of the electrospun fiber.
