Five water-soluble polymer-supported transition metal
polypyridyl complexes were synthesized from polyacrylic acid -co-
N-vinyl pyrrolidone, 2-methyl-3-hydroxyl benzaldehyde, o-phenanthroline and
metal acetate salts. Infrared spectra (IR), thermo-gravimetric and differential
thermal analysis (TG-DTA), Inductance Coupling Plasma (ICP) and X-ray
photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurement technologies were used to
characterize their composites and structures. Their interaction with DNA was
studied according to fluorescent probe method and gel electrophoresis method.
The results indicated that these complexes had strong interaction with DNA,
there may exist other rupture mode of DNA.
