Self-assembly crystal, manipulated polymorphic crystalline structure and elevated thermal degradation temperature of poly(1,4-butylene adipate): Effects of an aryl bisamide-based compound

A self-organized bisamide-based derivative (TMB-5) as a nucleating agent (NA) induced PBA to develop shishkebab structure. TMB-5 increased crystallization rate and lowered crystallization time, and displayed a good nucleation effect on PBA. TMB-5 modulated polymorphism and shortened PBA phase transition process. Thermal stability of PBA increased after blending of TMB-5. Mechanisms on crystal growth, controlled polymorphic crystalline structure and phase transition, and elevated thermal stability of PBA were clarified.
