Significant enhancement of the detectivity of polymer photodetectors is achieved by using electrochemically deposited polycarbazole and gold nanoparticles as interfacial layers, as a result of suppression of the dark current and increase of external quantum efficiency at the same time. The polymer photodetector based on poly(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester exhibits a high detectivity of 1.7 × 1013 Jones at 500 nm.
