Preparation of nanofiber yarns by multiple conjugate electrospinning
The apparatus for multiple conjugate electrospinning with controllable electric field and environment is designed and fabricated in this project. By observing the formation of continuous nanofiber yarn with high speed camera, we investigate the interaction between nanofibers carrying with opposite charges, the effects of apparatus structure, temperature and etc. on the formation of nanofiber yarn and modeling. High strength PLLA, PAN, PLLA/collagen or PLLA/n-TCP continuous nanofiber yarns are prepared after investigating the effects of composition, electric field, delivery rate, stretching rate on the formation and structure of nanofiber yarns. The as-prepared nanofiber yarns may be knitted and have many potential applications. This project will be the basis for the development of structural materials, composites and multifunctional materials, and extend the applications of nanofibers. And, China will be the leading country in the area of nanofiber yarns because of the contirbution of this pioneer work.
