The introduction of functional 4-(4-pyridylvinylene) phenyl group into surfactant encapsulated polyoxometalate complex (SEC) can form a terminal-group-
modified organic/inorganic hybrid complex, SEC-1. This complex, which acts as basic
building blocks, can aggregate into size controlled nanoensembles mediated by the addition and coordination of metal ions (ZnCl 2) in organic phase.
