Long-chain polyamides (polyethyleneamides)were prepared from polyethylenes bearing in-chaincarbonyl groups (polyethyleneketones) by the oximeformation and successive Beckmann rearrangement.(Diethylamino)sulfur trifluoride (DAST) was utilized asa promoter, which allowed mild conversion of the oximegroup in spite of low solubility of the polymers. Thepolyethyleneamide exhibited different tensile propertycompared to a commercial HDPE.
