An autofluorescent hydrogel with water-dependent clusterization-triggered emission is engineered as a smart wearable physical sensor capable of self-visualization of dehydration. The dehydration
process of this hydrogel is reflected by the real-time fluorescent images during operation, providing a facile strategy to evaluate water retention rate without dismantling the assembled device and facilitating the operator to intervene timely.
