In order to obtain a novel semi-aromatic polyamide having excellent heat-resistant and processing properties,a new semi-aromatic polyamide,poly(p-phenylenebenzoxazole adipamide)(BO6), was synthesized using 5-amino-2-(p-aminophenyl)benzoxazole(ABO) and adipic acid by means of Yamazaki phosphorylation reaction. The effect of reaction temperature on molecular weight of polymer was studied,the structure of product was characterized by means of FTIR、1H-NMR,and the heat resistance of the polymer was studied by means of DSC and TG. The results showed that the reaction temperature at around 90 ℃ gave a polymer of the highest viscosity; the heat resistance of the new semi-aromatic polyamide was much higher than that of the aliphatic polyamides,in addition, the product showed excellent solvent resistance.
