Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)
is viewed as a viable electrocatalyst candidate for alcohol oxidation due to
the comparable catalytic activity and high poisoning-resistance. Facial
synthesis and highly loading capacity of efficient AuNPs catalyst is highly
anticipated for alcohol fuel cells. Herein, tiny AuNPs without any surfactant are synthesized
successfully via air/water interfacial reaction and anchored in-suit on the surfaces of supported carbon
nanotubes in high density. The resultant freestanding composite thin films could
be used directly as electrode materials and modify stably electrode with
improved stability and operation feasibility. Moreover, the achieved composite
film on the modified electrode exhibit efficient electrocatalytic ability for
alcohol oxidation, mainly due to abundant active sites and facile electron
transfer. This work may expand the scope of cost-effective electrocatalyst for alcohol
fuel cells.
