The aim of this research is to establish a suitable rheological constitutive equation based on rheology study, predict injection moulding process parameters and validate with experimental measurements. In particular, this project will have the following objectives:
- Measurement of transient rheological properties forliquid crystal polymers (LCPs), focusing particularly on Vectra at various temperatures
- Identification of a suitable rheological constitutive equation to fit these data
- Incorporation of this rheological constitutive equation into the Moldflow software to predict various transient model parameters such as velocity and stress profile inside a mould
- Carrying out of accurate measurements of temperature and velocity profile within a mould and validation with model predictions
