Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2004, 43, 4663–4666. Responsive Aligned CarbonNano-tubes,
Feeling the heat: Surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization was used to modify a film of aligned carbon nanotubes with poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (see TEM image). A distinct temperature responsiveness is found for both the macroscopic (wettability) and the microscopic (the diameter and rigidity of a single carbon nanotube) properties of the resulting film

[Polym. Chem.] UV light-initiated RAFT polymerization induced self-assembly
Unlike the conventional polymerization induced
self-assembly (PISA) trigged by thermal stimuli, reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer
(RAFT) PISA initiated by UV light with a friendly and easily manipulated way as
a new strategy is exploited to prepare polymeric micelles at room temperature.

[Chem. Eur. J.] Ultrasound-Driven Secondary Self-Assembly of Amphiphilic β-Cyclodextrin Dimers
The controlled secondary self-assembly of amphiphilic molecules in solution is theoretically and practically significant in amphiphilic molecular applications. An amphiphilic β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) dimer, namely LA-(CD)2, has been synthesized, wherein one lithocholic acid (LA) unit is hydrophobic and two β-CD units are hydrophilic. In an aqueous solution at room tem...

[Polym. Chem.] Phase transition dynamics and mechanism for backbone-thermoresponsive hyperbranched polyethers
In this study, a controllable thermo-induced phase transition process was first observed in the aqueous solution of backbone-thermoresponsive hyperbranched polyethers. According to the variable temperature UV-visible spectrophotometry, the phase transition process was extremely slow as temperature was set around lower critical solution temperature (LCST). Fluorescence tests showed...

[Chem. Commun] Periodic auto-active gels with topologically “polyrotaxane-interlocked” structures
"Polyrotaxane-interlocked" gels which exhibit periodic swelling/deswelling oscillations without "on/off" switching of external stimuli are presented. The mechanical oscillation is driven by the redox oscillation in the BZ reaction and enhanced by the unique topological structure.

[Chem.Commun.] CO2 and Temperature Dual Responsive “Smart” MXene Phases
A robust strategy is explored to graft poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) brushes from two-dimensional materials of vanadium carbides (V2C) through self-initiated photografting and photopolymerization (SIPGP). CO2 and temperature dual responsive properties of PDMAEMA allow this hybrid as a smart system in the application to tune the transmittance and conductivity of V2C.

Polym. Chem., 2011, 2, 1658 "Tunable geometry and wettability of organosilane nanostructured surfaces by water content"
A facile method to fabricate nano-architecture organosilane surfaces with tunable geometry is presented. By changing the water content of the reaction system, surface geometries with controlled shape, size and quantity are obtained. The corresponding wettability variation can vary from hydrophobic to superhydrophobic with the surface topography evolution.

【Chem. Commun., 2010 Oct 8】Artificial frustule prepared through a single-templating approach
Abstract 全文链接
An “artificial frustule” was prepared through a single-templating approach, where the self-assembled architecture undergoes a transition from cocoons with pore channels parallel to the surface, to hollow spheres with perpendicular pore channels.

Front. Chem. China, 2010, 5, 247-261. Bioinspired synthesis and preparation of multilevel micro/nanostructured materials
In this review, some living organisms with multilevel hierarchical micro/nanostructures and related special properties are briefly introduced. The unique properties of organisms are mostly related to their special hierarchical micro/nanostructures. Inspired by nature, many zero-dimensional and one-dimensional micro/nanomaterials with biomimic or bioinspired multilevel micro/nanostructures ha...
