Recent progress in nanoscale morphology control for high performance polymer solar cells
The nanoscale morphology of the electronic donor and acceptor materials in photoactive layers significantly
influences both the exciton split and charge carrier delocalization and extraction processes in prevalent bulkheterojunction
(BHJ) based polymer solar cells (PSCs). An optimized morphology, including interpenetrating
networks of donor and acceptor materials, nanoscale phase separation, and a...

[Polym. Int.] Polymer grafts on zirconia particles and their application as supports of hybrid catalyst
A facile and efficient strategy for the preparation of polymer grafts on zirconia particles is developed bymeans of self-initiated photografting and photopolymerization. The UV-induced grafting polymerization is applicable to a variety of polymerizable monomers, allowing the direct formation of homogeneous and stable polymer coatings on zirconia particles without any initiator immobilization. The ...

008. A combined scheme for systematically coarse-graining of stereoregular polymer blends
A new computationally inexpensive scheme has been developed for deriving coarse-grained (CG) potentials of stereoregular polymers. In this scheme, from the constraint-distance stochastic dynamics (SD) simulations of trimer/trimer pairs in a vacuum, the nonbonded CG potentials are first parametrized by the conditional reversible work (CRW) method, which are then used to optimi...

Method to Probe Glass Transition Temperatures of Polymer Thin Films
A new methodology was developed to probe glass transition temperatures (Tgs) of polymer thin films supported on gold (Au) substrates and confined between two solid (silica and silver) surfaces based on the surface plasmon polariton (SFPP) signals generated by sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy. The measured Tgs for polymer (poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(b...

Cell-Membrane-Permeable and Cytocompatible Phospholipid Polymer Nanoprobes Conjugated with Molecular Beacons
To enable the visualization of the distribution and dynamics of intracellular biomolecules and thereby understand the mechanisms of intracellular bioreactions, we developed a specific functional nanoprobe through the combination of a well-designed, cytocompatible phospholipid polymer and molecular beacons (MBs). A water-soluble, amphiphilic phospholipid polymer, pol...

A water-soluble conjugated polymer brush with multihydroxy dendritic side chains
A brush-like water-soluble conjugated polymer bearing a poly[9,9''-dihexylfluorene-co-alt-4,7-(2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)] (PFBT) backbone and multihydroxy hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG) side chains is facilely synthesized by combination of "grafting from" strategy and the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) technique. The PFBT-g-HPG brush shows bright fluorescence in water with an emission maximum a...

Langmuir, 29, 4315–4319: Inherent Stretching Elasticity of a Single Polymer Chain with a Carbon-Carbon Backbone
We study the single chain elasticities of three kinds
of neutral polymers with carbon-carbon (C-C) backbone by AFM-based single
molecule force spectroscopy (SMFS) in a nonpolar solvent (octane), aiming at
measuring the inherent chain elasticity of the very important class of
polymers. The finding that the single chain elasticities of all the three
polymers in octane are virtually identical in...

A reversible cross-linked polymer network based on conjugated polypseudorotaxanes
A supramolecular cross-linked conjugated polymer network was fabricated upon treatment of a π-conjugated polymer simultaneously bearing dibenzo[24]crown-8 and dibenzylamine groups with hexafluorophosphoric acid. After adding slightly excessive base, this network dissociate back to the original conjugated polymer, accompanying a reversible change in their fluorescence intensities.

[2013][Polymer, 2013, 54: 5543–5552] Synthesis and Characterizations of Conjugated Copolymers Containing Benzo[f]isoindole–1,3–dione and Diketopyrrolopyrroleunits
A weak electron acceptor, 4,9-bis(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-2-(2-ethylhexyl)-benzo[f]isoindole-1,3-dione (BIDO) was designed and synthesized. Polymer P1 derived from BIDO and 9,9-dioctylfluorene-2,7-diboronic acid bis(1,3-propanediol) ester by Suzuki cross-coupling reaction has a band gap of 2.41 eV. To expand the absorption range, a different amount of BIDO was copolymerized with a diketopyrrolopyr...

Novel Polymer Blends from Polyester and Bio-Based Cellulose Ester
A strategy to reduce the dependence on petroleum-
based building blocks and the disposal concerns
of solid wastes was proposed by developing a novel polymer
blend from bio-based cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB)
and poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT). The thermodynamic
immiscibility and the thermal behaviors of the polymer
melt blends were investigated. The interfacial
properties were analyzed ...
