Compact PEGylated polymer-caged quantumdots with improved stability
Compact PEGylated polymer-caged quantumdots were prepared by covalently cross-linking the surface ligands using bifunctional poly(ethylene glycol). CdSe/ZnSe/ZnS quantumdots prepared in organic solvent via conventional synthesis method were firstly transferred to water phase by surface ligands exchange with glutathione molecules, and then cross-linked by bifunctional PEG through the carboxyl-amine...

165. A review on hybridization modification of graphene and its polymer nanocomposites.
Recently, graphene has attracted numerous interests from both fundamental and applied fields due to its excellent mechanical, thermal, electrical conductivity and other novel properties. This review gives an overview of recent progress on hybridization modifications of graphene with carbon nanomaterials. Some example applications of graphene-based nanohybrids in polymer composites, optical and con...

[J. Am. Chem. Soc.] Polymer Brushes on Graphene
A critical bottleneck for the widespread use of single layer graphene is the absence of a facile method of chemical modification which does not diminish the outstanding
properties of the two-dimensional sp2 network. Here, we report on the direct chemical modification of graphene by photopolymerization with styrene. We demonstrate that photopolymerization occurs at existing defect sites and that ...

Direct Electrochemical Generation of Conducting Polymer on Silicon Substrate.
Abstract: Polypyrrole microcontainers with morphology like bowls, cups, goblets and bottles have been electrochemically generated by direct oxidation of pyrrole on a p-type silicon wafer in aqueous solution of camphorsulfonic acid. The well-ordered microcontainers stand upright on the working electrode surface and changing the electrochemical polymerization conditions can easily control their morp...

68. Hierarchical Structure in Oriented Fibers of a Dendronized Polymer
Herein we report the fabrication and study of hierarchically structured fibers of a dendronized polymer that were simply prepared by drawing out from their columnar phase in melt. At first, the combined SEM and SAXS results indicate that the fibers contain fibrils that align along the axial direction and have a diameter of 200 nm. Further SAXS characterizations confirm an oriented hexagonally...

Fabrication of PbS nanoparticles in polymer-fiber matrices by electrospinning
PbS nanoparticles dispersed in polymer-fiber matrices by electrospinning are presented (see Figure). These PbS nanoparticles are roughly spherical in shape, each with a diameter of approximately 5 nm, and do not aggregate. This method will open up a wide route to functionalizing surfaces which can enable the fabrication of new types of optical, electric, and magnetic devices.
