Bio-oil production from hydrogenation liquefaction of rice straw over metal (Ni, Co, Cu)-modified CeO2 catalysts
This paper describes catalytic hydrogenation liquefaction of rice straw over metal (Ni, Co, and Cu)-modified CeO2 catalysts for bio-oil production. The results show that the highest rice straw conversion (89.08%) and bio-oil yield (66.7%) were obtained over Ni/CeO2 catalyst. The bio-oil contains mainly phenols, high-value-added, and widely used chemicals. Furthermore, metal-modified CeO2 catalys...

Catalytic hydroliquefaction of rice straw for bio-oil production using Ni/CeO2 catalysts
A series of Ni/CeO2 catalysts were synthesized via a simple one-pot hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, EDX mapping, Raman, H-2-TPR, BET, XPS, TGA and ICP-MS. Their catalytic performances were systematically evaluated in hydroliquefaction of rice
straw. The impact of reaction temperature, reaction time, H-2 pressure and Ni/Ce molar ratios on product yields and distrib...

【Nano Research】Bio-Inspired Design Of Hierarchical FeP Nanostructure Arrays For The Hydrogen Evolution Reaction
Hierarchical FeP nanoarray films composed of FeP nanopetals were successfully synthesized via a bio-inspired hydrothermal route followed by phosphorization. Glycerol, as a crystal growth modifier, plays a significant role in controlling the morphology and structure of the FeO(OH) precursor during the biomineralization process, while the following transfer and pseudomorphic transformation of the ...

The preparation of fully bio‐based flame retardant poly(lactic acid) composites containing casein
In this work, a bio-based flame retardant, casein, was incorporated into poly(lactic acid) (PLA) matrix by melt compounding in order to improve the fire resistance and sustain the biodegradable character of PLA simultaneously. The fire performance of PLA composites was evaluated by limiting oxygen index, UL-94 vertical burning, and cone calorimeter tests, respectively. The results indicated that...

Fabrication of flame retardant benzoxazine semi-biocomposites reinforced by ramie fabrics with bio-based flame retardant coating
Natural fibers reinforcedbenzoxazinebio-composites are one class of highly attractive engineering materials in automobile, train and aerospace fields because of high thermal stability, good mechanical and improved biodegradabilityproperties. Unfortunately, their poor interface and flammabilityissues remain unsatisfactorily addressed to date.Herein, we have demonstrated the fabrication of benzoxazin...

Combination of a bio-based polyphosphonate and modified graphene oxide toward superior flame retardant polylactic acid
The superior flame retardant polylactic acid (PLA) composites were prepared using the bio-based polyphosphonate (BPPT) and polyethyleneimine modified graphene oxide (MGO) as flame retardant at very low loading amounts. Within 2.4 wt% BPPT and 0.6 wt% MGO in the polymer matrix, the as-prepared PLA composites can pass UL94 V0 grade and achieve a LOI value of 36.0. The cone tests and TG-FTIR results ...

[Adv. Funct. Mater.] Bio-Inspired Anisotropic Hydrogel Actuator with On-Off Switchable and Color-Tunable Fluorescence Behaviors
An effective approach to develop a novel macroscopic anisotropic bilayer hydrogel actuator
with on-off switchable fluorescent color-changing function is reported. Through combining a
collapsed thermo-responsive graphene oxide-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (GO-PNIPAM)
hydrogel layer with a pH-responsive perylene bisimide-functionalized hyperbranched
polyethylenimine (PBI-HPEI) hydrogel layer via ma...

JMCA-A bio-inspired CO2-philic network membrane for enhanced sustainable gas separation
For thefirst time, the exciting reaction between the bio-inspired dopamine and the epoxy functional
poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) at elevated temperatures was found and utilized for fabricating dopamine/
poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) network membranes for sustainable gas separation. The gas transport
properties of the synthesized novel membrane were investigated aiming at energy (H2) purifica...

(ChemSusChem)Synthesis and Properties of a Bio-based Epoxy Resin with High Epoxy Value and Low Viscosity
A bio-based epoxy resin (denoted TEIA) with high epoxy value (1.16) and low viscosity (0.92 Pa s, 258C) was synthesized from itaconic acid and its chemical structure was confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Its curing reaction with poly(propylene glycol) bis(2-aminopropyl ether) (D230) and methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA) was investigated. For comparison, the commonly used dig...

(Green Chem.)Bio-based epoxy resin from itaconic acid and its thermosets cured with anhydride and comonomers
A novel itaconic acid (IA) based epoxy resin with curable double bonds (EIA) was synthesized by the esterification reaction between IA and epichlorohydrin (ECH). Its chemical structure was confirmed in detail by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and ESI-ION TRAP MS before being cured by methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA). In order to manipulate the properties of the cured resin, divinyl benzene (DVB) and ac...
